Jimini Health cofounders CEO Luis Voloch, Mark Jacobstein, and Sahil Sud

Imagine a world where mental healthcare isn’t limited to an hour-long therapy session each week. That’s the vision of Jimini Health, a cutting-edge mental health startup that has integrated talk therapy with 24/7 support from an AI assistant named Sage.
Founded in 2023, Jimini Health secured $8 million in funding this past November to expand its mission of blending evidence-based mental healthcare with AI-driven support. With backing from prominent investors like Zetta Venture Partners and LionBird, Jimini is taking a cautious yet bold approach to redefine mental wellness.
The Secret Weapon: Sage, the AI Assistant
Jimini’s AI assistant, Sage, is more than just a chatbot—it’s a transformative tool designed to engage patients beyond the therapy room. By conducting detailed patient intakes, offering 24/7 messaging, and suggesting personalized activities, Sage aims to address the hours between therapy sessions when patients need the most support.
“The key to success in mental healthcare isn’t just that one hour a week in therapy,” says CEO Luis Voloch. “It’s about helping people throughout the other 167 hours of their week.”
A Slow and Steady Strategy
Unlike many startups chasing rapid growth, Jimini Health is intentionally pacing itself. After controversies involving other healthcare startups, such as Cerebral, and concerns about AI safety, Jimini’s leadership has committed to a meticulous, evidence-backed rollout.
Voloch acknowledges the risks of moving too fast in a sensitive industry. “Some companies may rush to market and end up in disaster stories on the front page of major newspapers. We’re determined to avoid that by putting safety and efficacy first.”
Meet the Team Behind the Mission
Jimini Health is built on a foundation of industry expertise. Voloch, a cofounder of cancer biotech Immunai, brings a deep understanding of technology’s role in healthcare. Joining him are President Mark Jacobstein, former chief business officer at Immunai, and Chief Product Officer Sahil Sud, a founding member of Ribbon Health. The team is also advised by David Feinberg, the former CEO of health data giant Cerner.
AI as a Partner, Not a Replacement
Jimini’s technology isn’t here to replace therapists—it’s here to empower them. With an ongoing shortage of mental health professionals, therapists have embraced Sage as a way to extend their reach and impact.
What’s Next for Jimini?
Currently focused on treating patients with mild to moderate mental health needs, Jimini has its sights set on expanding to address serious mental illnesses. The startup also plans to shift from direct-to-consumer sales to business partnerships, leveraging its fresh funding to develop new features and fine-tune its AI.
“We’ve created an amazing patient journey, but this is just the beginning,” says Voloch. “In 2025, we’re leaving no stone unturned.”
